Smoking Cessation Program
Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death in this country. It is responsible for one in every five American deaths. Tobacco causes more deaths than AIDS, alcohol abuse, automobile accidents, illegal drugs, fires, homicide, and suicide combined. Smoking claims the life of an estimated 1,100 each day - over 400,000 smokers die from smoking-related diseases and 3,000 non-smokers die from lung cancer each year.

The costs of an employee who smokes is significant to an employer. Direct costs to the employer include the health care costs associated with smoking. Indirect costs include lost productivity, absenteeism, as well as recruitment and retraining costs resulting from death and disability related to smoking.

St. Vincent's Wellness Services offers a Smoking Cessation Program to employers who wish to help their employees quit smoking. This behavior modification program offers participants many different tips and techniques to help them stop smoking comfortably and confidently. Our Smoking Cessation Program can be used in conjunction with nicotine replacement therapy if the participant wishes to utilize these. Our Smoking Cessation Program can help participants become permanent non-smokers.

For a minimum class size of 10 individuals, we will bring our Smoking Cessation Program to your worksite. For additional information, please call (205) 930-2453.
