The Cancer Program at St. Vincent's East, located in the Cancer Treatment Center, is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer and JCAHO. It is an active member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers. It is the only program in Alabama to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission for excellence in quality care.
The program focuses on clinical care excellence through a multidisciplinary approach, including care coordination, government program services, laboratory and pathology, nutrition, oncology, pastoral care, radiology and surgery. The program offers support groups, awareness programs, assessment programs, community education outreach and counseling.
Diagnostic and treatment technology includes:

- ADAC treatment planning system u RT archive
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) u Digital portal imaging
- Departmental electronic medical record
St. Vincent's East offers a wide variety of primary and specialty health and medical programs designed to address specific patient needs. Some of these programs, such as Cardiovascular Services and the Cancer Treatment Center, have received state, regional and national recognition. However, all St. Vincent's East services and programs are established and maintained with a patient-centered focus and a goal of providing the highest levels of clinical sophistication.

The Cancer Resource Center, located in the St. Vincent's East Cancer Treatment Center, promotes community awareness in cancer prevention and early detection, and provides patients and families with continued support. Our cancer support services include, but are not limited to:
- Free educational brochures and pamphlets
- Books, videotapes, and DVDs for checkout
- Computers with Internet access to cancer-related web sites
- Personalized research assistance
- Smoking cessation programs
- “Between Women” services
The Cancer Resource Center is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Parking
All parking is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Cancer Center lot is gated. Please press the call box and let the attendant know you are there for treatment. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or certain designated areas. Please be sure to lock your car. Please do not leave valuables in your car. If you need assistance to your car, you may call the Security Department at 838-3911.
Payment Arrangements
Hospital arrangements not covered by your insurance, such as deductable and co-pay, are due at pre-registration/registration. Upon discharge, all remaining unpaid charges may be made at the Cashier’s Office located in the Main Atrium. We accept cash, personal check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express and debit cards. You will receive a separate bill from your physician or any consulting physicians. Please ask about how to participate in our Courtesy Discharge program. If you anticipate difficulty in paying your bill, do not have insurance coverage or are interested in help with financing your account through a medical assistance program, please contact our financial counselor located on campus in the registration area.
