St. Vincent's Hospital patients and the community. Reflecting the Catholic ministry of the Daughters of Charity, the Foundation supports programs like the Bruno Cancer Center and Camp Bluebird.
Philanthropy At St. Vincent's Birmingham
St. Vincent's Birmingham has delivered high-touch, Christ-centered care and pioneered medical innovation in Birmingham since 1898. These achievements would not have been possible without another equally significant St. Vincent's tradition: the continuing dedication and contributions of its loyal donors.
From its first home in a house donated by the DeBardeleben family, St. Vincent’s has looked to the Birmingham community to support the projects and programs to treat patients. Throughout St. Vincent’s early history, supporters provided the means necessary to open the hospital’s doors, expand inpatient care, develop need-specific medical programs, provide equipment, and expand St. Vincent’s reach in the community.
St. Vincent's Foundation was established in 1984 to administer charitable contributions for the hospital. The history of philanthropy lives on in support of new programs, education, the purchase of equipment and technology, capital expansion, and addressing special needs of patients and family members.
St. Vincent’s Foundation provides donors the opportunity to express appreciation for the care they have received and to provide care for those less fortunate. Through the generosity of donors to St. Vincent’s Foundation, the hospital is able to offer comfort where it is needed most.
