The citizens of Birmingham have a long-standing tradition of initiating and supporting their local hospitals. The facilities that comprise St. Vincent’s Health System may have been born under varying circumstances; but in all cases there was a need and a corresponding ambition to open a hospital to serve the community with accessible health care. Whether it was the Daughters of Charity, who opened St. Vincent’s Hospital in 1898 for a city with 100,000 residents and no hospital, or the physicians and business leaders who spearheaded the drive to build a hospital on the East End to serve their community following World War II, philanthropists have been vital to the establishment and growth of health care programs and services for our area.
The compassion and dedication that the Daughters of Charity showed to the citizens of Birmingham over one hundred years ago is alive and well today. That spirit lives on through the endeavors of the St. Vincent’s Foundations. Through their generosity and commitment, our benefactors help us to continue the mission of our founders.
The St. Vincent’s Health System Foundations offers to our community many opportunities for supporting and enriching the patient experience at our facilities. We invite you to review the various programs and services that we offer to our patients and our community, all made possible by the generosity of our benefactors.
Further, we invite you to join us in supporting the mission, vision, and values of St. Vincent’s Health System through your contributions to one of our foundations. |
